How To Get Ready For A Charitable Tablet Donation
There are plenty of options when it comes to donating your tablet. You could gift it to another person yourself, maybe a relative or family member. You can also reach out to a deserving charity, like Computers With Causes, to donate. However, before you give your tablet away, you will want to remove all of your personal data from the device.
Make sure you back up all your important files, such as images and documents, and wipe your tablet before you get started.
Whatever you have; an iPad, Android tablet or Kindle Fire, you can safely remove all of your personal data with a few simple taps and a few minutes of your time. Here’s how:
Apple iPad
First, do not forget to sign out of your iCloud and Find My iPhone accounts before you reset the device.
Here’s how to sign out of iCloud:
Navigate to Settings. Tap on iCloud.
Tap Sign Out. (or, if you are using iOS 7 or earlier, simply tap Delete Account.)
Tap Delete. (If you are prompted for the passcode, enter it, and then tap “Delete from my iPad.)
Now you are ready to head back to the Settings menu. Look for the Erase All Content and Settings option. Here is the step-by-step for this process:
- Tap Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Reset.
- Tap “Erase all content and settings.”
- If you’re asked for the device passcode (or Restrictions passcode), enter the passcode.
- Tap Erase.

Donate To A Good Cause
You can check with hospitals, schools, or even a daycare facility near you to see if they can accept your tablet donation. There are tons of options for donating online. If you decide to go this route, make sure to do your homework on your selected charity to ensure your donation gets into the right hands.
A solid option to consider is Computers with Causes. This may be a good option to consider if you know you want to donate but are not exactly sure where you should donate. They are an IRS certified 501(c)(3), so every donation entitles you to a charitable tax deduction.
